Professional engineer with extensive experience in the private and public sectors
James D. Bennett II, P.E. is an engineer providing specialized Research and
Development (R&D) tax credit, valuation and intellectual property consulting services.
James has over twenty years of experience in the private and public sectors as an engineer
and has committed over ten years in the operations facet of private industry. He has led an R&D tax credit study for a major oil company. James has also worked for a Big Four accounting firm. During his tenure he served as Manager and National Chair of Engineer Technical Liaisons Committee and technical expert for the Quality Assurance and Advisory Services group for the firm's national R&D practice. Additionally, he worked as a Petroleum Engineer Specialist with the IRS for over seven years.
During his IRS tenure, James performed evaluation of intellectual property assets, valuation of various tangible and intangible assets, was an in-house technical consultant for revenue agents
and was also trained as an expert witness for the IRS. James has a thorough understanding
of IRS audit technique and policy and procedure relating to petroleum industry tax matters and
the R&D tax credit.
James has a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Prairie View A&M University
as well as a master's degree in petroleum engineering from Tulane University. He is a registered professional engineer and registered patent agent. He is a member of the Licensing Executives Society, Society of Petroleum Engineers and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
